What receipt or proof of purchase is accepted?

Short answer

Receipts are required when you manually submit a purchase or when additional documentation is needed to verify eligibility, such as purchases from large retailers where the item type isn’t clear.

In these cases, JOON needs proof of purchase that clearly shows the merchant, purchase date, and price.

Accepted proof of purchase can include a receipt, Venmo/PayPal transaction(unless noted otherwise on your category guide), or bank/credit card statement, as long as the required details are visible.

When you need to submit a receipt

You may be asked to provide proof of purchase in the following situations:

  • You are manually submitting a purchase for reimbursement
  • Your company requires receipts for reimbursements
  • You are requesting eligibility review for a connected card purchase from a large retailer
  • The purchase comes from a business where the merchant name doesn’t clearly indicate what was purchased

Providing documentation allows JOON to confirm that the purchase qualifies under your benefit program.

Accepted proof of purchase

Proof of purchase must clearly show:

  • Merchant or business name
  • Purchase date
  • Purchase amount

Accepted documentation can include:

  • A store receipt
  • A Venmo or PayPal transaction confirmation (unless noted otherwise on your category guide)
  • A bank or credit card statement

Screenshots are acceptable as long as all required information is visible.

When an itemized receipt is required

For purchases from large retailers or businesses where the purchase type isn’t obvious, an itemized receipt may be required.

This helps confirm that the purchase qualifies under your benefit program.

Examples include purchases from:

  • Amazon
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Other retailers that sell many different product types

An itemized receipt should list the specific items or services purchased.
